Dr. Karla Badillo-Urquiola (Dr. KB)

Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered Computing, Online Safety for Youth and Vulnerable Populations, Responsible Computing, Broadening Participation in Computing

Dr. KB is a Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering within the University of Notre Dame's College of Engineering. She graduated with a Ph.D./M.S. in Modeling & Simulation and B.S. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Dr. KB is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research expert, investigating technology-driven solutions that empower people and protect the well-being of youth in marginalized communities, drawing on participatory and critical design methods. Her work has won Best Paper (top 1%), Best Paper Honorable Mention (top 5%), Best Poster, and Impact Recognition awards. She is also active in the SIGCHI Latin American HCI Community.
