Welcome to EPOCH Research Lab
The EPOCH Research Lab is dedicated to exploring how the design of technologies impact the lives of people, organizations, and communities, especially our youth.
EPOCH focuses on understanding and designing technologies for youth, families, and communities to promote the safety and privacy of the most vulnerable. Safety as protection from harm or other dangers. Privacy as an interpersonal boundary process that is negotiated between people.
EPOCH investigates how people interact with technologies in healthcare contexts. We also design systems to support the care and well-being (including physical, mental, and emotional) of people.
EPOCH explores how computing contributes to fair and just relations between individuals, social groups, and whole societies, locally and globally. Topics of interest in this area include, critical-reflective research practice and social justice.
EPOCH is committed to increasing the number of underrepresentation people (e.g., women, Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, persons with disabilities) in computing and closely-related STEM disciplines.
Community is the most important aspect of our lives.
My vision for the EPOCH Research Lab is to be a leader in building pathways for positive change in our communities.
