Online Safety & Privacy.Understanding and designing technologies for youth, families, and communities to promote the safety and privacy of the most vulnerable. Safety as protection from harm or other dangers. Privacy as an interpersonal boundary process that is negotiated between people.

Health & Wellbeing.Investigating how people interact with technologies in healthcare contexts. We also design systems to support the care and well-being (including physical, mental, and emotional) of people.

Critical Computing.How does computing contribute to fair and just relations between individuals, social groups, and whole societies, locally and globally. Topics include: critical-reflective research practice and social justice.

Broadening Participation.A commitment to increasing the number of underrepresentation people (e.g., women, Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, persons with disabilities) in computing and closely-related STEM disciplines.
